Tangled Web

Deceptions of a transgender guy

My transgender identity is Kris. I live in South Africa, which makes it all the more difficult to be what I am. This blog is about my present, past and hopefully, future.

I have lived with a partner for more than a quarter of a century and am married to her (civil union). We have a Pug dog child. My partner, B, is battling with accepting that she is living with an individual who is wearing a mask and a cloak most of the time. The dog accepts and loves me for who I am. If only people were like dogs…

I blog about my experiences as an undercover trans man and about my life in general.  It is a highly personalize view of the world and I make no apologies for that, but I aim to live and let live.

The title of this blog is taken from Sir Walter Scott’s (1771–1832) Marmion, A Tale of Flodden Field, Canto vi Stanza 17:
“Oh what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive!”

  2. Thank you for following me. 🙂 Your story is at once a poignant one for me – I know I am lucky to live in a fairly liberal society. I will be very interested in your unfolding story, and dare to be hopeful for your future. xxx

  7. Phenomenal Blog! Absolutely amazing. I have never met you, but I am so proud of you for having the strength to write about your daily struggles with such grace and intelligence. I am a gay man, a cancer survivor, and have 87% conductive hearing loss in my left ear. I can understand some of how you feel alienated and like you are constantly struggling. If I can ever offer any supportive words please let me know. I wish you the absolute best in your journey.

    • Nice to meet you, Adam and thank you for your kind words and for taking the time to read about my daily deceptions. Knowing you understand, as you have similar struggles, helps me feel less alone and in despair. I might just take you up on your offer of support in my alienation. Take care.

  8. I know that you closed the comments on your “Validation” post for a reason but I can’t keep my mouth shut. (It’s the mom in me that takes over.) Please, hang in there! Things suck right now and it really sucks that we live in a world where people have to fight for basic human rights. This is just one moment in time. I know that it might seem like a really long moment, but it will pass. Even if you are stuck in this place, keep writing it out, know that you are not alone, and here in this world, I see you as you want to be seen.

  9. I’ve nominated you for the Ver Inspiring Blogger Award, but I can see you’ve already gotten one! Congrats and thanks for being so kind and helpful!
