The Dining Room Set Saga, pt. 2

So the set arrived, eventually, after 8 weeks of an empty dining room. Just as I got used to the “new look,” the delivery men brought in the chairs first and then the table. Or rather, they tried to bring in the table, but the doorway, with a  concertina type security door, was just too narrow. They tried all possible angles and ways, but nope, no luck. By this time B was very anxious, her dream bubble seemingly about to burst.

Then the guys tried bringing the table around the house to the back door, but the passage was too narrow. By this time, B was in despair.

“Don’t worry, we’ll just take the top off,” the lead man said and asked for a screwdriver, promptly proceedings to do what he said he would do.

B watched with saucer-like eyes. Soon enough the top was off, carried in and the bottom part with the legs followed. The only thing left to do, was screw the top back on again and the delivery guys were on their way.

All I can hope is that I now can write, “The end” to this saga. Heaven forbids it has another chapter!

  1. Now she knows the legs can come off, that table could end up anywhere in the house.
